The products (optical equipment for on-board satellites) which we have developed are installed in various satellites. In particular, a radiation resistant Optical sensor (Image line) is our original product.
This product copes with not only UV and visible radiation, but near-infrared and far-infrared.
Optical sensor is used for digital cameras, as well. Optical sensor is one of only a few products that Japan can truly boast about as being No. 1 in the world.
Optical sensor used in the satellites is quite different from that used for digital cameras. Optical sensor for space should withstand cosmic radiation. Cars are a good analogy.
Optical sensor used for digital cameras can be compared to normal passenger cars, whereas Optical sensor used in space is like an F1 racing car.
The equipment installed in satellites should meet specific standards. Only equipment which has passed rigorous testing is allowed to be installed in satellites. Please see the test environment.
Only those units which have passed rigorous testing are allowed to be installed in the satellite. (MIL-STD-883) (NASDA-QTS). Just for one optical sensor to be installed, numerous tests have to be conducted.
